Green Furniture
Green furniture features a low carbon footprint. That
means its impact on the Earth's environment is relatively low compared
to other similar products. Businesses are now recognizing how powerful
the term green is to today's consumer.
Academics aren't surprised by how consumers are reacting to marketing
terms like green furniture. They point out that green reminds people
of nature. This connection may seem obvious, but given today's economic
hard times and war torn political atmosphere anything that reminds the
consumer of the calming effect of nature as a positive impact.
Of course, biologists point out that the connection is also literal.
If fewer timber trees are knocked down to make furniture, then more
plants transform carbon dioxide back into harmless gases. And anthropologists
and economists are quick to acknowledge how the word green in the phrase
green furniture is a clever pun on both nature and the dollar; thus
we now hear the phrase "Go green to save green."
